UBICS Face2Face seminars are back. On July 7th, the second edition of this series of dialogues will take place. This time, it will be focused on the challenges and dilemmas of artificial intelligence.
Under the title Implications of generative artificial intelligence: how will it affect our daily lives?, Prof. Eloi Puertas and Prof. Sergi Lozano will lead a debate to answer questions such as what generative artificial intelligence is, why it has become an everyday tool in many areas, and what changes it can trigger. They will also explore its impact on work, society, research, and teaching.
Professor Eloi Puertas Prats holds a degree in computer engineering from the UAB, a diploma in Advanced Studies in Artificial Intelligence from the IIIA-CSIC, and a PhD in computer science from the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Barcelona. He is a professor of computer engineering and the master’s in Data Sciences at the University of Barcelona. He is a professor of computer engineering and the master’s in Data Sciences at the University of Barcelona. His research interests have always been linked to artificial intelligence and machine learning. He is also a member of the established research group Vision and Computational Learning (VCL) and the UBICS institute.
Sergi Lozano Pérez is an associate professor of Economic History and Institutions, a telecommunications engineer, and a PhD in Technology, Sustainability and Humanism from the UPC. He is also a member of the established research group Economic History and Development Research Group (Industry, Business, Sustainability) and the UBICS institute. His postdoctoral work includes the Chair of Sociology, in particular Modelling and Simulation at ETH-Zürich, the Catalan Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution (IPHES), and several departments of the URV. He is interested in historical phenomena related to knowledge, such as cultural evolution during prehistory or the First Industrial Revolution, among others.
The seminar will take place on July 7th, from 10 am to 12 pm, in the Laboratori Polivalent of the Faculty of Physics at the UB (first floor — c/ Martí i Franquès, 1).
