Next Tuesday, June 30, the seminar “Introducció a la perspectiva de gènere en la recerca internacional” will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the Aula del Department de Química Analítica, Facultat de Química de la UB (3rd Floor, Ed. vell – c/ Martí i Franquès, 1). This activity is jointly organized by the Institut de Recerca de l’Aigua (IdRA) and the Institut de Sistemes Complexos (UBICS). The class aims to provide training and to offer guidance on how to effectively incorporate and demonstrate a gender perspective in research project proposals.
The two-hour session will be led by Marisa Segura and Èlia Navarro, project officers from the International Research Projects Office (OPIR) and experts in gender perspective issues within international research projects.
The seminar is structured in two parts: a theoretical section and a practical section. The practical component will be carried out in groups and will allow participants to raise questions related to the implementation of the gender perspective in their work environments and research projects. The activity will be conducted in Catalan and is open to all members of both institutes, although it is particularly aimed at senior researchers, as practical examples from European projects will be used.
The objectives of the seminar are:
- To understand and become familiar with the legal framework and key concepts related to the gender perspective in research (theoretical section);
- To reflect on current research practices and the challenges involved in implementing a gender-sensitive approach;
- To learn how to identify biases and stereotypes in research through shared experiences;
- Through a practical case study from the Horizon Europe program, to acquire the tools and resources needed to integrate the gender perspective into research activities, project writing, and proposal preparation.
The provisional program of the session is as follows:
11:00–11:10 Welcome and introduction
11:10–11:45 Gender perspective in international research: what should we take into account?
11:45–12:30 Joint activity to identify the basic tools and strategies for incorporating the gender perspective
into international research projects
12:30 – 12:55 Discussion session
12:55–13:00 Closing
The seminar has a limited number of spots available to guarantee the most optimal learning experience.
