Following the great response last year, the 2nd Barcelona School on Non-equilibrium Physics will be held from April 13 to 17. The Institute of Complex Systems (UBICS) sponsors again this series of conferences on the topics of classical and quantum statistical physics. Drs. Giulio Biroli (Ecole normale supérieure – ENS, París), Jean-Philippe Bouchaud (Capital Fund Management i Ecole normale supérieure – ENS), Florent Krzakala (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne – EPFL), Dra. Valentina Ros (Laboratoire de Physique Théorique et Modèles Statistiques, CNRS i Université Paris-Saclay) and Marco Tarzia (Laboratoire de Physique Théorique de la Matière Condensée, Sorbonne Université) are the prominent experts in the field who will be the main speakers this year.
The aim of the school is to provide students advanced knowledge on selected topics of classical and quantum non-equilibrium statistical physics. Lectures will progressively go from the basics to current research topics, and a one-day mini-workshop will take place on Wednesday 15 April, a chance for members of our local community to present their current activities, with the aim of fostering discussions and boost current research.
The conferences will be held at the Facultat de Física of the Universitat de Barcelona, and are organized by Dr. Demian Levis, member of the UBICS, and colleagues from the Departament de Física de la Matèria Condensada, Drs. Carles Calero and Fèlix Ritort.
This activity is addressed mainly to advanced undergraduate, master’s and PhD students, postdocs, professors, and everyone interested in learning about this fascinating topic.
